Shape the Face of Cancer Treatment at Luminate Medical

At Luminate, our mission is to make cancer care more human. We design and build technologies that help oncologists make cancer care better, faster, and safer for patients.

Our first two products, Lily and Lilac, are revolutionary wearable devices designed to address hair loss and peripheral neuropathy, respectively – two of the most common and difficult side effects of cancer treatment. We have an exciting pipeline focused on building products that help cancer patients to live, not just survive. Our latest product, Lotus, enables at-home administration of low-risk anti-cancer drugs.

We're looking for a Financial Accountant to become a key member of our finance function. In this role, you will support the financial operations of a fast-growing medical device company, helping to ensure robust financial reporting, compliance, and controls as we scale our product portfolio and international presence.

Working at Luminate Medical

  • This is a key hire at a rapidly growing company. You will have the opportunity to shape the development of high-impact patient-facing products and gain first-hand insights into a start-up's growth.
  • We offer a highly competitive salary comparable with multinational medical device companies (available on application) and a flexible benefits package including health insurance and pension.
  • We believe in quality of life in our product and for our people, offering flexible working hours and a generous vacation policy.

What You Will Do

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare monthly management accounts across multiple entities, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Support the month-end close process: journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency revaluations.
  • Maintain the general ledger, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and assist with FX translation and intercompany eliminations for group reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and FRS 102.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation across all entities.

Planning, Reporting & Budget Monitoring

  • Assist with the annual budgeting process and contribute to regular forecasting cycles.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly spend-to-budget reports for each business function, highlighting variances and flagging areas of concern.
  • Work with department leads to ensure monthly expenditure is accurately coded and reflected against the correct budget lines.

Compliance, Tax & Grant Claims

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax regulations, and internal controls across all group entities.
  • Prepare grant claims, ensuring expenditure is accurately captured and reported in line with agreements.
  • Support the preparation of the annual R&D tax credit claim, working closely with R&D teams to collate and document qualifying activities and costs.

Audit Support

  • Assist with year-end audit preparation, including preparing audit schedules and acting as a day-to-day point of contact for external auditors.
  • Support the documentation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies as the business scales.

General

  • Support the CFO with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as the business grows.
