Company Overview:

Meight is a seed-stage tech startup based in Portugal that just raised €3.5 million to make a dent in the Road Freight industry. We’re building the first data-powered platform for Road Freight, a vertical software solution for small Road Freight carriers.

Road Freight is the largest distribution channel in the world. The $5 trillion industry is expected to double in the next 30 years. Road Freight has been a key enabler for humanity for the last century and is now facing disruptive challenges in sustainability, efficiency, and technology adoption.

We help Road Freight teams make a leap from being low-value employees spending time putting out fires and being single points of failure to adding value to operations where they interact with AI systems to build up company knowledge and market differentiation. A turn-key SaaS solution with no implementation costs and no lengthy ad-hoc customizations that allows small carriers to become digital at a fraction of the cost of an on-premise ERP or Transport Management System (TMS).

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and ambitious Product Designer with a passion for UX/UI design and a keen interest in Product Development lifecycle.

As a Product Designer at Meight, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience and interface of our digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other designers, to create seamless and intuitive experiences that deliver value to carriers. In addition to your UX/UI responsibilities, this role offers a unique opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in product management, paving the way for product management roles.

Responsibilities:

User-Centric Design and Development:

  • Conduct user research to understand the needs, preferences, and pain points of our target audience.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that align with user expectations and business goals.
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback and usability testing.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure the seamless translation of designs into functional and visually appealing user interfaces.
  • Maintain design consistency and brand identity across all digital platforms.

Product Management Exposure:

  • Actively engage in product strategy discussions, offering valuable insights from a design perspective. Leverage your understanding of user needs and design principles to contribute ideas that align with the overall product vision and strategy.
  • Work closely with product managers to define and prioritize features based on a combination of user feedback, business objectives, and technical feasibility. This collaboration involves understanding user pain points, market trends, and the impact of potential features on the overall user experience.
  • Assist in creating product roadmaps that outline the timeline for feature releases and overall product development. Collaborate with product managers to align design milestones with key product roadmap goals.
  • Assist in creating detailed product requirement definitions that outline the specifications for design elements, features, and functionality. Collaborate with product managers to ensure that design requirements are clearly communicated to development teams.
  • Work with product managers to communicate design-related requirements in a way that is clear and actionable for development teams.
  • Collaborate with product managers to gather feedback from cross-functional teams and stakeholders on product requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as a bridge between the design and development teams, ensuring a seamless translation of design specifications into functional software. Engage in regular discussions with developers to address any queries, provide clarifications, and maintain a shared understanding of the project's design goals.
  • Establish feedback loops with developers to gather insights on the feasibility of design elements and identify any technical constraints early in the process. This iterative collaboration helps refine designs and align them with the development workflow.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders, including product managers, executives, and end-users, to gather comprehensive requirements for design projects. Conduct interviews, workshops, or surveys to ensure a deep understanding of the project goals and user needs.
  • Communicate design concepts and progress updates in a clear and understandable manner to stakeholders. Translate technical design jargon into layman's terms, facilitating effective communication and ensuring that all stakeholders are on the same page regarding project status and direction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field.
  • Proven experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow into a product management role.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation package (up to €40,000 gross + stock options + performance-based bonuses)
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
  • Professional development opportunities and mentorship programs.
  • A dynamic and inclusive work environment with a focus on innovation
  • Work-from-anywhere policy

If you are a passionate and forward-thinking designer looking to expand your career into product management, we invite you to join our team and contribute to the future of Road Freight.
