The successful candidate will be responsible for performing advanced simulations, developing computational models, automating simulation processes through programming, and analyzing complex data sets. This role requires a strong foundation in computational methods, proficiency in coding, and the ability to solve complex engineering problems using simulation tools to predict sound propagation and acoustic response in different environments and materials in the applications in noise control, speaker design, and architectural acoustics.
Responsibilities
  • Developing mathematical models that represent physical systems or processes.
  • Using simulation software to replicate the behavior of these models under various conditions.
  • Validating models against experimental or real-world data to ensure accuracy.
  • Employing numerical techniques such as finite element analysis (FEA), finite difference methods (FDM), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Solving differential equations and other mathematical problems that describe engineering systems.
  • Writing code in languages like Python, MATLAB, C++, or Fortran to automate simulations and analyse results.
  • Developing and optimising algorithms for efficient computation and data processing.
  • Analysing large datasets generated from simulations to identify trends, anomalies, and insights.
  • Using visualisation tools to present complex data in an understandable and actionable format.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.), applied mathematics, computer science, or physics.
  • Master’s or PhD programs focusing on computational engineering, numerical methods, or specific applications like CFD or FEA.
  • Ability to understand and solve complex problems using a systematic approach.
  • Skills in breaking down large problems into smaller, manageable parts.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer science.
  • Expertise in using computational tools and software.
  • Creative mindset to develop new models and improve existing methods.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in technology and methodologies.
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to integrate computational solutions into broader engineering projects.
