Director of Technical Integrations

POSITION TITLE AND DUTIES: Director of Technical Integrations - This is a strategic role within the Strategy and Operations team reporting directly to the functional head and CEO of acquired businesses whose operations must be integrated into the Unbabel organization. This role has two areas of focus: (1) supporting merger and acquisition (M&A) activities, including pre-acquisition (during the due diligence phase through a robust technical assessment of the acquired businesses) and post-acquisition (during the integration, managing the technical migration of acquired revenue) and (2) managing the ecosystem of external developers to create a network of integrations that delivers to our integration strategy and expands our integration coverage across both our inorganic and organic go to market. As part of the M&A team of Unbabel, the Director of Technical Integrations will support the vetting of potential acquisition targets and working with the due diligence team to identify obstacles to the migration of customers. This review will help inform the integration plan for each acquired business, as well as Unbabel's Integration Playbook. Post-acquisition, the Director of Technical Integrations supports the migration planning through a review and consultation process of the technical workflow and product support required to drive the migration of customers to completion, including handover to business as usual. A key driver of this workflow and product support is the deployment of external integrations. The Director of Technical Integrations is therefore responsible for managing an ecosystem of external developers with the objective of creating a network of integrations that expands the company's integrations coverage for prospects and new customers and ensures we are able to successfully migrate acquired customers. Key duties include:

  1. Reviewing the M&A pipeline to identify potential acquisition and sell targets.
  2. Supporting the acquisition process through technical and workflow assessments at the outset of the due diligence phase, refining the assessment as the deal matures.
  3. Working in partnership with key stakeholders at Unbabel and the acquired business to deliver on integration activities.
  4. Performing consultation activities with acquired and new customers for business improvement and process change, including coordination and management of process and technical implementation to align the customer's localization processes with Unbabel.
  5. Advising on and influencing migration activities to ensure the migration of customers is successfully achieved to the highest standards and best practices.
  6. Analyzing and determining new externally built integrations for new organic customers, through consultation with Partnerships and Revenue.
  7. Building and maintaining external integrations through consultation with Product teams.
  8. Managing all phases of a technical integration from initiation to completion, including deployment and handover to business as usual, delivering all assigned tasks to agreed scope, time, and quality, through consultation with the Integration Delivery team.
  9. Acting as central point for coordinating all external integrations and facilitation of cross functional processes so that external integrations are delivered to customers in an integrated fashion across the business.
  10. Managing the ecosystem of external developers.
  11. Utilizing expert level knowledge of each of the following areas to carry out the above duties:
    1. Applying machine translation (training models, seq2seq, tensorflow, alignment) to large enterprise workflows to reduce cost, improve speed, and maintain or improve quality.
    2. Using Language Asset engineering - Translation Memory (TM) segmentation algorithms, TM alignment, terminology propagation, and machine translation training.
    3. Using the GILT framework for internationalization practices and standards.
    4. Using content parsing tools and frameworks including XMLUtils and Okapi.
    5. Using existing market CAT tools including XTM, RWS Trados, RWS Worldserver, StarTransit, MemoQ, Transifex, SmartCat, and Phrase.
    6. Using content management systems and data handling tools including Contentful, ContentStack, Hubspot, Demandware, Marketo, and SF Marketing Cloud.
    7. Using web service technologies including SOAP, GraphQL, and WebSocket.
    8. Integrating and connecting various APIs into existing systems; designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs; and creating comprehensive and clear API documentation for developers and stakeholders.
    9. Using data interchange formats including JSON and XML.
    10. Implementing secure authentication and authorization mechanisms for APIs.
    11. Testing APIs for functionality, reliability, and performance using tools such as Postman or Swagger.
    12. Designing robust error handling mechanisms to ensure graceful degradation in case of API issues.
    13. Implementing API versioning to manage changes and updates effectively.
